Ormes Featured In Smithsonian
The Ormes Society has recently discovered that the work of Jackie Ormes is currently on display at the Smithsonian Institution’s Anacostia Community Museum in Washington, D.C. until April 30 of 2007. The work of Ormes is featured in the “Two Hundred Years of Black Paper Dolls” exhibition. Individuals who are interested in viewing the extensive Arabella Grayson collection of which Ormes’ work is a part can visit the museum between the hours of 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The Anacostia Community Museum is located at 1901 Fort Place, SE, Washington, D.C.
Ormes Society Seeks Second Wave
The Ormes Society is currently seeking black women working as illustrators or writers in the comic book or webcomic industry to form the second wave of new Ormes Society members! Women who are interested in joining the Ormes Society should e-mail the organization the following information:

Rashida Lewis To Appear At NYCC
Creator and Ormes Society member Rashida Lewis will be appearing at the New York Comic Convention. Fans will be able to converse with the creator, purchase issues of the series Sand Storm, and have their comics signed by Lewis. The New York Comic Convention will take place at the Jacob Javits Center from February 23 until February 25.
The Ormes Society Grows

C. Spike Trotman Nominated For GCA
Cartoonist and Ormes Society member C. Spike Trotman has been nominated for two Glyphs Comics Awards. Trotman’s Templar, Arizona has been nominated in the category of Best Comic Strip. The Ormes Society has recently discovered that Swann Auction Galleries of New York is currently auctioning off a still-life painting by none other than our very own Jackie Ormes!
