Ormes Artwork Appears in New Exhibition

The work of Jackie Ormes is currently being featured in the exhibition Out of Sequence: Underrepresented Voices in American Comics. The exhibition, which began on October 24, 2008, will run until January 4, 2009. Ormes’s art can be viewed alongside the work of other notable artists such as Ormes Society members C. Spike Trotman and Ashley Woods.

Leisl Adams: Leisl just can’t decide whether she wants to be the darling of the webcomics world or the princess of print media! Her online strip On the Edge is still wowing readers and her newspaper strip Thomas the Enlightened Cat appeared in the Chronicle Herald last month.

Cheryl Lynn Eaton: Unfortunately, Cheryl Lynn Eaton will be abdicating her positions in both the Ormes Society and Torchbearers to pursue goals unrelated to the field of comics. She has had an absolute blast meeting all sorts of wonderful creative people during her time in both communities as well as the larger comics community and will cherish the friendships she has fostered. Rashida Lewis Partners With Kolkom

Ormes Society member Rashida Lewis has partnered with the entertainment company Kolkom International to provide fans with a Sand Storm mobile video game. The game will be the first of its kind to feature an African superhero created by an African-American artist and writer. The mobile video game is scheduled for release in August of 2007.



Monsters Under the Bed!

Ormes Society member Leisl Adams has completed her first children’s book. The book, titled Monsters Under the Bed!, is available for purchase from Lulu Press. The story revolves around a charming young child named Katy who is frightened by the monsters she believes she spies in her bedroom at night. With the help of her mother, Katy learns to deal with her fears.

Rashida Lewis To Appear At NYCC

Creator and Ormes Society member Rashida Lewis will be appearing at the New York Comic Convention. Fans will be able to converse with the creator, purchase issues of the series Sand Storm, and have their comics signed by Lewis. The New York Comic Convention will take place at the Jacob Javits Center from February 23 until February 25.
